I'm starting to feel like John Cena's US Title run's sole purpose is to see what midcarders can work a "main event" with the man for program(s) in the future.

All three of the matches are very much a PPV main-event type of match with finisher kickouts, false finishes, and the whole deal. Even when he had surprisingly back-and-forth matches with midcard guys before, they didn't go as all-in as they have in all three of his US Championship Open Memorial Invitational matches.
