My answer for why it should not be brought back is simply this. Before, when there was a King of the Ring, it could prove a stepping stone for young, just about to peak, superstars. Choosing a winner typically wasn't very hard. Take the guy who is going to be the next big thing (no pun intended)...but look at what we have now. With two shows, SmackDown and RAW, they both have guys who are 2 seconds or less away from being HUGE...Look at John Cena...look at Randy Orton...both are just about to cross the finish line, but what happens when Orton beat Cena at the KotR? Suddenly SmackDown no longer has a guy with huge momentume. Now there could be some argument, "Nick, Rock lost in the finals of 98, and Mick in the finals of 97...and they both pushed through it" yes that is true, but that was because Mick and Rock both went back to some good storylines and had more chances to square off aginst Hunter and Shamrock respectivly...if Cena loses to Orton, that's it. Sorry Cena you just couldn't cut it, but have fun on that other show.

Now if we had something the likes of each brand having their OWN KotR tournament (no need to call them both King of the Ring...just a tournament will do in say the month of June since there is a PPV for each brand) and the winners of each of the respective brands tournament won a shot at SummerSlam for their title...then go for it. I would like to see it. But to through a bunch of interpromotional matches in there just dosn't make logical sense if they really are trying to create the illusion of two different companies.
well thought out, i agree with everything you said
