They could easily stick Venable in left 80% of the time and that'd be a upgrade for you guys. I'm not sure what the Mets have that they'd part with for Venable. I know Conforto and Nimmo are off limits, as are the plethora of arms. I doubt Venable has more value than a low cost reliever or similar backup/platoon type bat.
