He always came off to me as being special needs in his character, not deliberately stupid, and definitely notb"douchy". Of course, my opinion may be biased by the fact thst early on in school, I spent some time in Special Education classes and was around and learned how to act around and treat people like that with dignity and respect.

Like 99.999% Eugene was a "special needs" character who was just very naïve and happy-go-lucky. A lot of people in the crowds could relate to such a character, which made him sympathetic to them, especially while he was looked after by William Regal.
