Yeah, pretty sure everyone is giving Cena mad props.
The opening promo was pretty much pointless. Like, it was ENTIRELY redundant. Bad TV. You could have had RAW open, had some bumpers for the matches coming up, then have Dean Ambrose come out for his match against Big Show.
I liked the ladies' matches, but I felt as if the crowd wasn't as into them as last week. I don't want to be premature, but I think you run the risk of steam being lost if you retain the parity elements where some girls win and some girls lose and they all come out looking "pretty good." We need some promos and actual rivalries to come out of this. Sasha Banks beating Paige was fine, because Paige can say "Maybe I underestimated you, but I won't next time." There's a feud.
Charlotte and Naomi can feud over who the better freak athlete is in the division. Alicia Fox can lose standing with The Bellas for losing to Becky Lynch, so she needs to prove herself against her. She can cheat to win a singles match between them and then the two have a mutual gripe.
Fuck it, I dunno. Everything is pretty good right now, but also keeping in mind that these are long shows, I think crowd fatigue sets in, and not everything gets as over as it could be.
The New Day are fucking hilarious. Los Matadores are so good. Seriously misused talent. The Lucha Dragons are a bunch of fun too. I'm glad they're now in the title picture. I want to see some actual development of their personalities. The Prime Time Players would be so much better as a heel team, I've just decided.
Cesaro looks like a bad-ass in his street gear. I'm looking forward to him teaming with Orton against Owens and Sheamus. Cena & Cesaro vs. Rollins & Owens makes even more sense. Please get awesome at promos, Cesaro. That way you might keep your spot this time.
The match between Cena vs. Rollins was awesome, and they both worked hard to make it a spectacle. Beyond the booking problems though, I can imagine Jim Cornette pointing out they followed up a gunshot with a stabbing in there. I appreciate the effort Cena is putting in, I do -- but did the dude legitimately kick out of a top rope superplex rolled into a Falcon Arrow? Fuck off with that shit. I can suspend disbelief, but some stuff just needs to be kept in the back pocket, you know? That being said, good news for The Young Bucks is that there is probably a job as the top team of the WWE's tag division waiting for them, and they won't even need to work smarter.
My guess is that Rollins follows this loss up with a promo explaining that the only reason he tapped out was because he's already the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, so he's the top guy regardless of what happens. But then The Authority make him put his title on the line against Cena at SummerSlam or something and Seth tantrums, making him look tremendous (that is sarcasm).
I completely agree with the booking gripes. What would have been wrong with Cena teaming with someone to face Rollins and a partner in the main event? As I said, Cena & Cesaro vs. Rollins & Owens would have actually been PERFECT. Whatever.
