The Mets fanbase had finally moved on from the idea of re-signing Cespedes only for it to come out last night that they were actually having productive conversations on bringing him back for a 1 or 2 year deal, which would have allowed Cespedes to re-test the market when it is far weaker but before the mammoth 2018 one AND eliminate the risk for the Mets who had no interest in a long-term commitment with him.
And then today the O's jump back in, leading me to believe that Cespedes' agents leaked out news of the supposed Mets negotiations to try to get another team to jump and pony up the dough.
