I completely see why the idea sounds good, but I don't know if it would work, or if MS have the gumption to do it. Console gaming is still a market that's hyper sensitive to price.
The other issue though is that they'd have to make the game functionally the same, but only with some marginal upgrades for a two year hardware cycle. Then you're shelling out several hundred pounds so you maybe get the game at 30fps rather than 25
They could do something with a Windows box, but they can't do shit
