Yeah, my point wasn't so much that there should be a ceiling as it was that they can work things in a way so that they guy they want to represent the company and the guy the more hardcore fans love can both thrive in whatever spot the company wants them to be in without the fans caring about the totem pole. When you tease a Daniel Bryan type repeatedly though without intending on him being the guy, that hardcore fanbase is suddenly gonna WANT it. And now your hands are kinda tied. Shawn Michaels was more than IC champ because he happened to be the guy they chose. That's the way it should be. The company successfully leading the fans to enjoy what they give them as opposed to a vocal and potentially very disruptive fanbase twisting their arm.
