One of the A's minor league pitchers suddenly died recently.

Athletics minor league right-hander Sean Murphy has unexpectedly died, the team announced on Tuesday. He was only 27. No other details were given.
"The A's are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Sean Murphy," said vice president of baseball operations Billy Beane in a statement. "Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends."
In parts of five minor league seasons, Murphy pitched to a 4.26 ERA in 490 2/3 minor league innings. He was Oakland's 33rd round pick out of Keystone College in the 2010 draft.
Murphy had not actually pitched in a game since 2014 due to Tommy John surgery. He had been at the team's spring training complex in Arizona rehabbing the injury.
