I can't help but to think about CM Punk's "weird, bipolar business" line.
Cody was green as grass and featured all the time in his gawdawful capacity. Over time, he improved... but the better he got, the less he was featured. What other place does that? You don't have an NBA player come in, play like shit, and win a starting job for (team name here) with 50 minutes a night, but then as the kid gets better and eventually becomes good enough to make all-star teams, he increasingly rides pine until the team decides he's no longer a starter.
I have a theory about WWE being so big that they forgot what made them popular to begin with. They tell all these people they'll be stars if they do x, y, and z... show personality, connect with fans, bla, bla, bla... but even if they do exactly that, and it runs counter to whatever they have planned, it doesn't matter.
