I think they've kind of toned down some of Dean's craziness. I don't know if it's in response to anything necessarily, but a lot of people didn't like it when it was too over-the-top, which could at times lead to it feeling a bit forced.
Working within the confines currently of his gimmick is great for him and the fans. He's easily one of the most charismatic and over babyfaces in WWE right now, and this may not end up being his only WWE Championship run by a long shot.
