He's more goofy than anything. Kinda like the guy everyone has knoan where you aren't sure if they're nuts or just amuse themselves for reactions. What he is is the guy who gives zero fucks. In the days when Cena was using the FU and STFU they could have called Dirty Deeds the 0FG. Whicheck would have been cool. "Lunatic fringe" is just a really cool nickname so they go with it. And straight-laced guys like the commentary team make more of it than others would.
