I actually don't mind it as much as many others. I don't think of Shane as a "non-wrestler" so much as I think of him as a rich kid who has had all the best training money can buy. He was picking everybody's brains as he grew up in the business, and was always a freak athlete and a gifted performer who probably would have been a great full-time wrestler if he wasn't put into a suit.

I'm not the dude's biggest fan or anything, and I'll admit that I never saw how he was presented prior to 2001 without a revisionist's eyes. Maybe if I had watched him during his European Title run, I'd have thought him far less "legit" than I do now. As it stands, he's been doing this longer than most people have been before they win a World Title.
