It has gotten better, but up until a few months ago, her promos were
atrocious to me. Like, Bayley-bad. Like a sixth grader reading speeches off of notecards and losing her place when someone made a snide remark.
She's gotten significantly better over the past few months and become a pretty great promo most of the time, and her in-ring work is really good most of the time--except when she's dropping people on their head. I think a lot of people's opinions are still colored by that first nine months.
But I also think that's true of Sasha. Her promos haven't been great, and her in-ring work has been "scary" some of the time, but people remember her NXT work. I think she's still trying to find her footing as the #1 face of the division on the main roster. Her heel ringwork in NXT was phenomenal, but having to be the babyface has left her a bit lost, which leads to doing dangerous shit to pop the crowd.
