At least in the Redskins case, the name itself used to be a slur against Native Americans. With the Indians, its usually their mascot getting the brunt of complaints because of it being seen as a negative stereotype.

Believe most of the complaints against the Braves is more due to the Tomahawk chop and chant their fans like to do than the name itself.
I am offended at the name Patriots. It implies only people residing in New England love their country.
