There was a rumor about the WWE doing a possible title vs title feud next month with Reigns and Owens which would have been a perfect way to merge those two belts and have the IC belt being the mid-card belt for RAW.

Smackdown loses their mid-card belt but it helps them more in the end because of the smaller roster.
