I think it would have been a love/hate thing. I mean, this is wild speculation, but look at the history of Christian in the WWE. Vince McMahon used to do segments with the guy. I mean, he probably did think he was a creepy little bastard, but the guy is even still working there in some capacity. Hell, Vince brought him back after TNA even though Christian was the first guy to say "Fuck this, I can do better elsewhere."

The ECW run was a bit weird, but I can see why they did it. Vince would have been a bit tiffed with Christian, but it gives him a chance to be a "main eventer," but away from Vince's real main eventers. And he was sort of used as a veteran hand to try and guide guys like Swagger and Ezekiel Jackson. It still sucks that Christian had to lose to Zeke and not Regal though.
