Going massively against the popular opinion here, but I've always felt Jake's promo skills were mega overhyped. His promos (what I've seen) aren't bad, but they're not the be-all-end-all of promos and psychology that people make him out to be.

Maybe it was different in 1989, but watching any of his promos today don't seem any different than what most people are capable of doing.
