These are the first two Bodom songs I ever so much as disliked. Every single song before this was at least "great". "Trashed" is very poor, even by any random band's standards. Knuckleduster is just pure shit. I watched the band evolve from melodic black metal to symphonic speed metal to semi-thrash metal to whatever the fuck this is. They've experimented with plenty of styles, and they've always turned out good [but not exactly marketable to the mainstream]. Alexi hit gold with Sixpounder [everyone's favorite Bodom video] with the downtuned riff. There's nothing raw about tuning to C and banging on a few power chords.

Sure, they're not as terrible as In Flames, but In Flames took a few steps down to where they are now. Children of Bodom took a swan dive from the summit of metal down to the pits of The Quiet Place riffing.

If their next full length album kicks ass, I'll forgive them completely. I said that about In Flames, too. I said that about Kreator, and they got their act together and came back with a vengeance. Megadeth delivered, too. The difference between a band like Kreator and a band like In Flames is that In Flames' style is in right now. They won't be
"going back to their roots" until nobody cares about them. I fear for Children of Bodom's future.
