Honestly, I don't see why they couldn't just make up a storyline like "Asoka couldn't decide which brand made the better fit for her, so she signed a long-term Free Agent contract."

I think that could've led to her elevating the women's divisions on both shows and lending them more credibility if done right. Just seems (IMHO) like such a wasted opportunity.
