If I were you, i'd buy a few new parts at once to be on the safe side.
My old motherboard couldn't handle the amount of ram and the processor I use now, so I had to upgrade it, my video card is only one of those shitty geforce 64mb ones which I bought cheap, and I kept my HDs, CD roms and sound card, and my monitor/speakers/mouse/kb etc.
I mean since you were gonna upgrade your whole comp anyway (and with WoW on the horizon ), you may aswell do like I did and just buy the core parts first, and keep the parts from your old computer that are still good.
Then add in the seksi bits like wireless kb and optical mouse set, hot speakers and a hot LCD monitor. :[
I might upgrade some stuff soon, I think my motherboard can handle up to 2GB of RAM
