This is one of the things that sticks out to me watching Memphis wrestling. The heels gets a beatdown long enough to get heat, and then a bunch of faces, led by Lawler, would come in to save a day. That does more than declaring yourself the Big Dog or having "good matches." Wrestling is a visual medium. Show, don't tell. Wrestling as an Athletic Performance will always make less money than Wrestling as a Morality Play.
They're stuck in the Attitude era mentality, even though they're actively trying to get away from the things that made that work.
