Damnit I just changed pages and when I clicked back my page of writing was gone

But the reason why you don't find them exciting is because the media doesn't hype them up as exciting. If they were involving US sportsmen I'm sure you'd find them exciting.
I'm not excited about every event that an American is in, and I am very excited about a lot of events that Americans didn't even qualify for. There are Americans competing in table tennis, but I'm not going to pay much attention to that, the men are not competing in soccer, but I am going to pay attention to that. I'm not just some dummy who is being pushed around by NBC, actually.

You wouldn't watch the Tour if Armstrong was constantly being sucked off by ESPN.
You obviously must not watch much ESPN, because the Tour de France got maybe 30 seconds a day on SportsCenter. The coverage was on OLN, a channel that I ordered specially, and a channel that shows the same coverage the rest of North America and UK see. I became a fan of cycling when I started reading about it and became intrigued by the strategy and precision of it, not because Stewart Scott gave a ten word update every night on SportsCenter. Stima is an example of a guy who follows Armstrong on ESPN, I am an example of a guy who follows the Tour de France through OLN, internet news sources, and various magazines. Theres a difference.

The coverage of the swimming is a joke. Its as if they've never heard of ian Thorpe.
I know Thorpe, I know that he could easilly beat Phelps in at least one event. I know that Phelps isn't predicted to win seven and that the relays are hardly a lock. If I just watched ESPN and read Sports Illustrated, then I would think that he was a lock to win eight and that there are no other good swimmers out there, much less American. But I am well read, so I don't think that. Don't get me confused with all the guys crying when he only wins four golds.

It's easy to stereotype Americans as being ignorant on international sport, and for the most part it really is true. That doesn't mean that all Americans are completely ignorant. I'm not claiming to be an expert, but I'm not the marionette with ESPN pulling my strings that you think I am. That said its not like the United States is the only country with biased coverage. You, for example, hate Lance Armstrong based on, well, speculation. Either that or else its because he is successful, confident, and American.

Its not a sin for a country to cover its own athletes. Half the guys posting here are saying that they only care about their countrys athletes. I'm sure Argentina will have more coverage of soccer than anything else, and they are predicted to win! You need to lighten up and stop hating everything American based on double-standards and stereotypes.

I don't mind if you're making fun of the stereotypical person, but don't make judgements on me based on them.
