Kinda. But you could say the same thing about vehicle destruction. "Look at my beautiful *personal* limousine! Oh no, don't touch it with that bat..." The guy wouldn't go. "You destroyed it for nothing, I'll just buy another one." The belt is something they not only fought for, but it is
theirs (neverminding the deposit practices like the one that allowed Ric Flair to essentially walk off with the WCW Championship because of the money behind it)
I mean, now, fans in the stands shell out money for belts that look better than one an actual promotion might have... but back then, on top of the prestige, there used to be a little more emphasis on how much the titles meant, but also on how much they COST!
