I get what you’re saying, but I think Austin could cut that promo beating Jake at IYH: Wipe Your Ass or whatever. It’s not the King of the Ring push itself that helps Austin. He’s working Yokozuna in the pre-show match at SummerSlam. Vader could have won KOTR and everything could have played out exactly the same way.
