The only ones I remember it doing anything for at all were Austin (because of a subsequent promo), Regal (because of a subsequent promo), and Booker T (because of a subsequent taking of the gimmick to the Nth degree with the fake accent and his wife playing along). And I also remember the time WWE thought Billy Gunn was going to be a huge singles star from it that was about as forced as the Lex Express. It didn't really do anything for him, but I remember it.

I'm also intentionally not counting Macho Man King. He prob'ly would have done that even without a tourney, and it would have been just a glorious.


And truthfully, Owen made more out of winning two Slammys than being KotR.
