Meshuggah are bad ass. I find them most notable for their odd experimentations with rhythm. Check out their latest song, "I". It's pretty fucking insane, like 20 minutes long. Listening to the second section of the song, I have come to the conclusion that cymbals are heavier than snares. Overload of treble backed by intense bass explosion = heavier than shit. This combination is what makes black metal work. (not insinuating Meshuggah is black metal)
On the subject of rhythm, and straying into the area of nu-metal, I was just listening to Mudvayne while taking my dad to work. I truely only appreciate these guys for their drummer and their bassist. Fucking tight system of rhythm, the only reason these guys have a tendency to suck live is because their guitarist and vocalist can't keep with the beat of the rhythm section. Truely awesome work when you really lend your ear to some of their songs.
Last thing on my mind ATM concerning metal... I read something about Marduk and Finntroll and a couple of other bands teaming up for a European tour a while back... I've noticed Marduk is touring quite a bit over there. It leads me to believe their is a slight possibility that I could see both bands live in the near future.

I would die to see Finntroll live. And other tour thoughts, I have decided to pass up Nightwish in concert having heard their latest albums. They can suck my balls, not in the mood for opera metal. Last, Gorgoroth are touring in Mexico.... roadtrip? Haha prol'ly not, but that would be sick.
