Oh wow. Whoever could have seen that coming.
Besides everyone. It is a WWE trend. They were petty towards AJ Lee after CM Punk left, pretty much scrubbing her championship run from history and having her lose it to the "Hall of Famer" Nikki Bella AND having Steph co-opt her "give Divas a chance" and "women's revolution" for herself. They were petty towards Renee when Ambrose left, and the getting mad about her letting folks know she had Covid-19 seemed like a lame excuse they were reaching for to boot her out the door. They were mad that they finally got their long re-sought after prize in Maria Kanellis, and treated Mike Bennett like shit after he had THE NERVE to get his own wife pregnant and deny the audience her in booty shorts. They probably would have treated Brandi like shit had she stayed around long term after Cody's departure, but they never got the chance since she walked.
Hell, they are petty towards people who are together within the company. They are dead set on arbitrarily splitting up couples on separate brands for no reason, since it rarely if ever leads to some kind of push for one or both parties. Remember back when Lana and Rusev had heat for :gasp: getting engaged?! Because them being in love and wanting to get married fucked up WWE's shitty plan for that "all american girl" gimmick and paring her with Ziggler or somesuch; also gave the company an excuse to be mad at them instead of just forgetting they were on the card in typical "Vince is bored with this" fashion.
What would really be shocking is if they
didn't do such things. If, for sake of example, either Killer Kross or Scarlett left in a huge tizzy, but the other one stayed and had a whole sustained long-term push and plan built around them. That would be a surprise. But the reality is when one is gone, the other will be counting lights for everyone until either their contract expires or they end up on the post-'Mania chopping block.
