PWI currently speculating Smackdown could potentially be moved to Thursdays in the near future due to FOX losing the rights to Thursday NFL games once the new NFL tv contracts kick in.
The basis involves the idea that Thursdays are a better night for ratings than Fridays and it would be an easy way for FOX to boost SD's weekly viewership numbers.

The NFL announced a ten year rights fee deal today that sees FOX lose the Thursday night games starting in 2023. That would, hypothetically, open up a spot for Smackdown to move up a night if FOX so chooses. Thursday is a more watched night of the week for TV Networks so a move may be considered.
It should also be noted that FOX's strategy for Smackdown was, in part, to have it lead in to its sports programming on the weekends so it very well could stay put. Smackdown has drastically increased viewership on Fridays since its debut the Network may decide to just leave things as they are and not upset the apple cart.
