I’m not saying that tickets are on sale yet, you illiterate fucks. It’s a forecast, and one made facetiously. They’ll probably sell it out. One way or another, the Khans are going to get people into that building, even if they have to comp an obscene amount of tickets or pay to get people in.

Pockets of fans on the internet are actually celebrating this, like pulling 18k from one of the world’s largest metropolitan areas for one show is some sort of height for wrestling. And in modern times it sadly is.

My honest prediction is that the show will probably come off well. They’re in Rochester the next week, so they’ll exploit Brodie Lee’s death for that. They’ll blow all the cache they get from doing a “giant” show by leaving a bad taste in fans’ mouths and doing their silly, self-indulgent stuff. Dave Meltzer will say they are doing amazing as the ratings come in at 750k or whatever and they panic and hot-shot more stuff.

The big spanner in the works will be if the bottom falls out before then. They have been getting smashed on Friday nights. They will get smashed on Saturdays. People are out of the habit of watching. That does more damage than a lot of AEWtomatons give credence to. So they will be hot-shotting more stuff for the return to Wednesdays. It will largely have audiences feeling underwhelmed, but it will also be diminishing returns each time they do it. It would not shock me if the big Wednesday return only does 750k-850k people. And the realization from the hyper-aware AEW fans is going to do major damage to the new car smell of AEW, which has already dissipated if you ask me. It’s going to keep going lower and lower, and enthusiasm is going to go with it. By the time we get to September, more and more people might be looking at AEW screaming out for attention, shrug and get back to what they were doing.

Long-term, even if this show is a success, it’s going to subconsciously stand as a comparative challenge to where AEW ends up in the future. When they CAN’T fill up that building in New York — if they don’t even try — that does damage to the perception of AEW too. Make no mistake about it, if WrestleMania ever has to go back to the Hartford Civic Center it is going to sting and be noticeable to fans.

All these empty promises from AEW, all these publicity stunts and proclamations about how BIG they are — look at how BIG we are! — are going to come back to bite them, as if they haven’t already (half their potential viewership deciding this is bogus, TNT kicking them from their slot, TNT kicking them from their NETWORK).

Shift those goalposts, cunts. I am right. I have been from the start — the moment they pulled PAC and Page from Double or Nothing and the apologetics started. And that is this place’s real issue with me. They don’t like that I make them feel so damn wrong.

AEW sucks, guys.
