Who was the last fan chosen star the WWE actually got 100% behind? Eddie? They’ve been plenty of guys who organically got over that the company didn’t get behind or purposely tanked for whatever reason. Bryan, Ryder, Rusev, Cesaro, RVD, Booker T, Christian, Punk, and I’m sure there are a few others.
I’m not saying all these guys should’ve been the top guy in the company or anything like that. But there’s a lot ships in that lot that sales not for the talents lack of popularity, ability or willingness, but because the company didn’t get behind them. Reigns is a prime example of Vince wanting what he wants and not giving two shits about what the fans think or how they react.
Crowds slept through or shit on virtually the entire main event run for Roman Reigns the minute he was hot shotted and yet here we are, 7 years later, when they finally got it right after losing half their audience since that decision.
