I was once a heavy hater of BR games. It's something you don't really 'get' until your first top 5 nail biter. And def the rush of a top three battle with the closing circle will hook you.

Battle Royales tell a 'story'. Each time slightly different. A begining, middle, and finale all have certain tones to them. I went from wondering what the big deal was to Apex being a regular rotation in my game sessions.
