I don’t really like concepts like four pillars, Rushmores, top 5, etc. I think it can change and rotate depending on circumstances. I also don’t think a company should overtly label them as such. But taking the concept from All Japan, I’m going to look at the top four people I think AEW should be building around, and who could mix it up in tremendous matches that generate interest over the longest period of time.

Danielson and Punk are obviously going to be in there. They’re the biggest stars and the best overall workers they have. It then actually gets really tricky for me. I like PAC a lot, but is he really someone you should be building around? Maybe I’d need to see him actually work Danielson and Punk to see if I could watch a billion of those matches over years and years, lol.

MJF should be in there. The kid has it all and he’s ready. It’s just that annoying fourth slot. If he became available, Chas Betts would be in there. Seriously. He’s just so good, and if you get him, strap a rocket onto him. I guess I should say Adam Page, since he’s the champion. He’s got a lot of good points, but I don’t quite feel him up there yet. But I guess if you’re going to commit to a guy, that would be it.

Punk and Page contrast on their completely different attitudes towards life. Punk is strung tight, straight-edge. Page has got this laid back cowboy image.

Punk and Danielson obviously have lots of history and can play off each other a bunch of different ways.

We’re seeing Punk and MJF play out now.

Danielson and MJF would be extremely interesting. It’d be fun to see if MJF could get anger out of Danielson’s gimmick.

Page and MJF are homegrown guys that have basically interacted from the start without ever really going at it one-on-one yet (to my recollection).

I’m also thinking about Adam Cole. I saw something there in him eventually (after initially not really getting it with him). But he may be more of an in-and-out supporting player there.

Yeah, I’d probably go with Danielson, Punk, MJF and Page right now.
