We arrived at this juncture because at some point, the gaming community was brainwashed into thinking that charging for new content that's gameplay related is bad, and too easily abused, and that extra content should be cosmetic only.

Thus, $15 dollar skins. And now an entire generation of gamers has grown up thinking its normal and acceptable.
