Ratings don’t need to matter to your enjoyment of a product. It’s fine if they do too. Sometimes people want to see something they like making other people happy. But it was the Meltzers and the like who started this battle by pretending 18-49 matters when you’re talking about a mostly white wrestling audience with the average age of 47. It was shifty in the first place. That’s what’s fun about busting these myths.
I get people want AEW to be hot shit. But you can pretend you like it without pretending that it’s doing gangbusters. And if you want to see more people enjoying it, maybe put that on the product to be more appealing instead of shifting numbers around to suit you?
