I remember when I was like 10-15, all the guys watched rasslin. We'd talk about it all day at school after whatever show aired. Some of us were WWE guys, some WCW. We'd all sit around talking about both of them though. Now my son is that age...and he doesn't know a single person at his school, or any other activities he participates in, that watches wrestling. Not a one. He gets made fun of when people realize he watches it. This is to say that it ain't the same anymore. Wrestling is not in a good place. It may not be dead yet, but it gets closer every single day.
Bingo. Anything else is just denial. And folk like Dave are going to stick their fingers in their ears to ignore any reason. And the sad thing is that it is obviously important to them that wrestling hit some sort of cultural spot, otherwise they would pretend that its popularity doesn’t matter.
