Only in this case a bunch of bottom-of-the-barrel wrestling nerds who shit themselves at the thought physical or even verbal confrontation try to convince themselves it’s actually true to make themselves feel better about their own shortcomings.

completely false. punk has a raw lack of physical awareness that is truly unique, it is in no way hyperbole when a person says the marks could take CM Punk. The guy spent millions on training and doesnt know how to throw a jab. I dont mean he has a bad jab. I mean he has a cartoon representation of what a jab is supposed to look like. Joe Rogan said it best you could take a random guy you found at a gas station who does nothing but drink and smoke and in the worst case in 3 weeks he'd be better than CM Punk (who trained for years to be that bad btw.)

its not a joke or a dig. he's uniquely ill suited for fighting. he's one of those guys that gets in a domestic and his girlfriend wins. the only people who defend him are people who never saw him, or are marks worked by his stuff that have never fought (formally or otherwise,) and/or cant do even the smallest amount of assessment with their eyes. if you could youd watch even the smallest amount of his footage and cringe at just how shockingly bad it is. Its likely theyre the only ones Punk could actually take because if you dont know enough to know you could kick his ass of all asses fighting is not for you. I recommend buying a gun.
Punk went into the UFC with a name he made elsewhere and took the spot of guys far more deserving than him, guys who spent their lives trying to make it to that stage, and was humiliated in a way that had never happened before outside of those celebrity boxing train wrecks all while getting a nice paycheck that should have been going to more deserving people.
I can understand coming from a place of ignorance on the topic, thats fair. maybe you dont follow the sport or you never got around to seeing those fights. maybe violence just isnt your thing. fair enough. but to pretend like is anything other than the physical comedy that is is preposterous. he is not "good for an amateur but bad for a pro" he isnt even "good for a bar and bad for a pro."
A highschool wrestling team could score a takedown on punk 9 out of 10 times. find me any YMCA boxing enthusiast and i promise they can take punk at will until their arms give out. and then theres the ground game. he couldnt win a women's league. and the only people who wouldnt take everything i just literally are punk marks.
