The show followed its usual trends and went downhill across almost every segment. My favorite thing about that is how Dave Meltzer tries to explain it away in comparison to SmackDown, which tends to get people to tune it. “Network television is different to cable for…well, for a number of reasons. It just is.” It’s because SmackDown starts with main eventers, gives you a hook, then finishes with the most important thing on the show. Dynamite is disconnected segments, largely in a bubble, with no show-long story.
Darby and Joe did get a 6% increase for their main event, which is the second time they have been almost unique with growth in the main event. Darby has got something and Joe can be ratings when they point and aim him correctly. But they’ll never figure it out.
