The only feasible way you could make it work is randomly disperse your tops acts. You dont know which show theyll be on, barred advertised segments, but only use them on one a week. Keep it sporadic in an effort to foster an "anything can happen on any show" feel.
And even that has a high chance of failure because youll suck the life out of the shows. You wont be able to make 2 hours on compelling tv stretched that thin. Youll be sitting on one decent segment a night AT BEST and the crowd will be so bored they wont even respond to the segment youre trying to get over.
Touring might help the live audience issue a bit. Maybe. People just happy theyre in town at all is worth some excitement. There's currency to that for a year or two.
And the flip side is if WBD says hey will pick your 2 shows up but youve gotta take this 3rd slot too...well they cant exactly say no. To my knowledge WBD isnt funding production, at least not entirely, so its cheap content for them that delivers a better return due largely to that low cost against something like a syndicated rerun that might draw more viewers but at a higher cost.
Its a good deal for the network. AEW has to make their money through the gate, ppv buys, merch etc. Overexposure hurts all of these revenue streams. I truly dont see them surviving this much air time.
Theyd be well suited for 1 2hr hour weekly show. Maybe a 5th show on ppv months as a special go home. And focus on touring house shows. House show dont bring the exposure issue. Keeps your product hotter in a lot of ways.
