I think a lot of the people who watched AEW from day 1 were loving the shit out of Dynamite for the first 5 months and the red hot crowds every week in every town seemed to back that up.

Then COVID happened and I think, for better or worse, the people who were loving the early days of AEW felt a sense of "community" or whatever in wanting to support the show during the pandemic. Both to support the company and because it was nice to have a 2-hour diversion from all the crazy shit happening in the world.

And then they finally got back on the road and it felt like early 2020 again with hot crowds everywhere.

But the "honeymoon" phase was always gonna end eventually and we're well more than a year removed from that point.

I still generally enjoy Dynamite most weeks even if it's not as hot but have no appetite for anything beyond that. Can't really imagine forcing yourself to sit down and watch Rampage every week because OMG I'll be a filthy casual who doesn't support them enough if I don't watch it all.
