Alvarez has hammered home the point that he thinks "Punk and The Elite should do a program so they can all make more money" is a lazy narrative.
The company might make more money if the feud draws, but the wrestlers themselves won't see a dime of it because AEW gives all of its tier 1 talent guaranteed contracts. It's not like a WWE deal where you only have a downside guarantee and your earnings will fluctuate based on the business, it's a fully guaranteed salary and these four guys in particular it'd be at a hefty number.
Yes to an extent the wrestlers should want to be doing shit that gets more eyes on the fed, but the overall point is it's tougher to get guys to agree to put legitimate heat aside for the good of the business when they don't have any sort of real financial incentive to do so. It's not like they're getting any extra money for increased gates or buys.
