You’re right, but at what point has the damage been done? People speculate about WBD cutting a deal with AEW if Tony allows for sanctions to be put on his involvement. But when that becomes necessary, at what point do you just stop expecting fruit off the rotten tree?
The wrong guy is in charge, the wrong wrestlers are hired, the wrong “stars” are favored, the wrong stories are executed, the wrong decisions are made at every level. Anything you put into the company is almost an immediate waste. You get Shane or Goldberg for a week and people watch, realize the show sucks, tune out.
I’m actually wondering if TNA comes in and takes the spot on TBS/TNT at this point. They wouldn’t require as much in TV rights and their working relationship with WWE could allow NXT talent to show up and help keep the show fresh. You’d probably get about as many people into a building for a TNA show too.
