There's a thing called establishing order... we do it with animals, we do it with children and we do it with new posters.
When a kid or animal does something you'd rather they not do, or rather they do differently, you discipline them. Sometimes it's something like withholding treats or rewards... NO DESSERT FOR YOU!
This is no different. That thread exists because there was a demand for it and because its existence negates the need for these threads. When one of these threads DOES pop up, you refer the thread maker to THAT thread and eventually everyone learns to go there first.
But by answering his question you threw a wrench into all of that and you taught him that he doesn't need to follow the guidelines and go to that thread because eventually someone will come along and answer his question anyway rather than teaching him how to find the answer on his own.
Not only are you teaching him that the rules aren't important, you're breeding stupid and lazy people who wait for the answers to come to them rather than seeking out the answers on their own.
