He's been their ace all season long. He's wearing out a little bit, so maybe you give him a couple more days rest before he pitches the first game of the playoffs, but you don't take him OUT of the playoff rotation. It would shatter his confidence. He'd demand a trade. He's been great for a good portion of the season. He's one of the best workhorses in baseball.
If "wearing out a little bit" means having an ERA over 7 for his past 4 starts, I would hate to see what wearing out alot is.
