They come out with your wrestler, you can somewhat control them when your wrestling (press up on the left analogue to get them to distract the ref, down to grab a weapon), so for the first time really, they serve a purpose other than to say you have one.

Hey, good to hear. I thought managers were only marginally effective in HCTP myself. It should make sense that a weak wrestler with a strong manager should go toe-to-toe with upper midcarders, but the only way you could make a manager effective was if you slid outside the ring or made it a point to get as close to the ring apron as possible. Small advantages, but hardly up to the potential.
Hmmm... I wonder if they'll make managers more important in the season mode? Like having them accompanying you to the ring in every match. And then maybe turning on you two or three months down the road, and pitting you against a new protege....
