Flair got over by making others look like a million bucks. He made the territory's face look like he was going to win but then Flair would pull it out with a Dusty Finish.

Hogan got over by destroying others. He sold for about 5 minutes then began his comeback.

Flair sold, Hogan rarely did. Both tried backstage booking, whether it be as a booker or with "creative control".
