PlayStation 2 - Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. I wanted to get my PS2 by launch time, but I knew that would be impossible. I waited until February the year after to get it, and by that time we were told that Konami would be releasing MGS2 for the PS2. That's all I needed to know.
GameCube - Unlike the PS2, I actually waited for a game I would actually want to play. I had played my brother's GCN shortly after the system was released here in America, and I didn't find a single game that made the purchase of the system a necessity. I waited until Super Mario Sunshine came out, but I was disappointed. SMS wasn't the genre-defining game its predecessors were, and not even close to the best 3D platformer out there. I wasn't disappointed for getting the 'Cube, since eventually good games would be released for it, but I was disappointed for buying it so soon and for a game that did not deserve it.
Xbox - Shenmue II. I had spent hours on the first game for the Dreamcast, so I was really looking forward to playing the sequel. I got what I asked for.
