Shawshank does not have that much rep yet (10+)
have you seen the office? that is a good comedy yet america tryed to copy it and basically killed it. now that is down to the producers trying to make it more americanized and it just didnt work. i saw the american pilot episode of this and it was rubbish, yet the british one has me laughin my bollocks off.

different cultures have different humour, take chris rock, eddie murphy when they did stand up. to me they werent anything special but others may think different, but if i was to compare them to billy connelly and peter kay the british pair should come top in anyday IMO.

if you want to watch a good british comedy from the bennyhill era (70's/80's) please dont judge us on that. in its day it was funny but not now, however if you watch monty pythan (the life of brian & the holy grail), only fools and horses, fawlty towers and you will see british humour at its best from that time (which is still funny now).

others id name for you to watch: little britian, bottom, the fast show, the young ones, pheonix nights, the royal family, black adder, shooting stars, vic reeves big night out.
