In one way it would be logical for him to drop the title (likely in the 4th week when Orton is in charge), because he's a heel and he shouldn't be able to go through the entire babyface side (minus Orton) of the roster.
Then if you had say Jericho take the title (I would guess Orton will book HHH in a 4 way with Maven, Benoit and Jericho after HHH beats them all individually), then you could have HHH get the title back at the NYR PPV in January.
On the other hand, since they already booked HHH like superman tonight, they might as well make him seem invincible again, and then 'try' to make it seem like a big deal when orton beats him at mania. In the meantime they could do the Flair face turn (or Batista) and have them fued with HHH through the Winter. Either that or Kane, who in theory should be hot when he comes back.
