Ok Since I'm the resident Piston fan I'm assuming you guys want my opinion.
First of all shame on everyone of those fans that were doing that shit. Absolutely uncalled for. The biggest thing ESPN talked about was that there were little kids in the stands crying and all that.
With all the great things that happened in the NBA last night (Wade's FG as time expired, Kobe's Triple Double) ESPN has to devote their entire show to this.
Stephen A Smith said it perfectly "It does not matter what happens, your a professional athlete, you need to be higher above this." Look, I know Artest is a hot head and if I had been in his situation I probably would have done the same thing, and in a way no matter how much I hate Artest, he had a minor right to get in those stands. But Stephen Jackson needs to be suspended, minimum, 10 games. He could have gone into the stands and got Artest out, but he decided to hit a fan. Kinda shitty on his part.
The lawsuits that are going to come out of this thing are going to be sick. Artest better hope his record company takes off because he is about to get smacked with lawsuits. Stephen Jackson as well.
Getting back to the fans, I have never been more disapointed with a group of people in my life. Getting on the court was ridiculous. But where that is said, Artest should not have been on the Announce table. That was what was pissing off the Detroit fans, because he is acting like a hot shot after causing that altercation. He's trying to be a smart ass. That's just saying, "Hey attack me". Artest attacking the fan that first came on the court was ridiculous. Artest could have walked away but no. Why do that. Then Jermaine O Neal's attack on the fan was ridiculous as well.
In Conclusion, I'm not ashamed to be a Pistons fan, I'm ashamed to being a fan with all those Pistons fans. The suspensions are going to be sick, too.
Prediction for suspensions
Ben Wallace: 2 games. It looked like a hard foul but because it was unnecessary. 45.6 seconds left, and your not going to win a basketball game so why foul him. Artest did not even make an attempt for the ball. Regardless, Wallace is a lot more calmer than that, and it was just that the Pistons were losing so bad that was causing him to get upset. Remember, Wallace is still getting over the death of his brother.
Ron Artest: 12-15 games. I've said all I'm going to say on Artest. Nothing more needs to be said.
Stephen Jackson: 10-15 games. He is an idiot for jumping into the stands and going after fans, not helping Artest.
Fred Jones: 4-6 games. He jumped into the stands and was trying to fight as well.
Jermaine O neal: 5-10 games. For that single sucker punch on the fan that was on the court. O neal did not have to do that.
Rasheed Wallace: 1-2 games for possibly jumping into the stands.
I'm not ganging up on Pacers at all. Do not even say that. I'm just saying what needs to be said. Don't say I'm being biased towards my team either. I realize that it was my hometown of fans that were doing this. But I can't exactly say that the Pistons would have been doing this had it been in Indiana. The fans went after the wrong guy.
Breakdown:
50% the fans fault
10% Wallace's fault
40% The Pacer's (not just Artest) fault
I'm going to a wedding all day today, but I will argue every point that is made after I get home tonight.
But I just want to say that I am not ashamed of the Pistons, just the group of fans I am now associated with.
